Google Plus Review

Ankur Kumar

Google has unveiled its new project Google+. Which many people think is its answer to Facebook. So What exactly is Google+? Google+ is a project which turns Google into one giant social network. Google+ contains some new innovative features. I got an Google+ invitation so decided to test it and share the experience and features with my readers. Here are all the features of Google+ :

Google+ Stream

It is similar to Facebook news feed. You can share you thoughts, photos, videos and much more by streaming it to various groups. You can even stream or share the content or links with the users who are not using Google+ by emailing them.

Google+ Circles

This is a one of the good features which is present in Google+. Google+ Circles allows you to create groups or lists of people which is far more easier than creating Facebook Friend List or Twitter List. It features a drag and drop functionality to add people to a specific group.  By Default there are 4 Groups namely Friends, Family, Acquaintances and Following. But you can create more such groups and add people to it accordingly. This can really help in sharing of information with specific group. For instance you can create a group College and share information with only Members of Group College. Though it is similar to Facebook groups but sharing is more simpler since while streaming only you are given an option to share with specific groups or to share will everyone.

Google+ Profiles

Google+ profile uses and import your existing data from Your Google Account. Your profile contains tabs like post, about , photos, videos and much more. More or less its similar to Facebook profiles.

Google+ Hangout

Google+ Hangout is one of the innovative feature which allows you to have fun with all your circles using  webcam. When you start a hangout with a circle a post is published published on your wall which allows more users to join the hangout.

Google+ Mobile

Google+ is also available for your mobile and for more information check Google+ For Mobile.

Google+ Photos

When you join Google+ it will import your photos from you Picasa account which you can share with your friends. You can upload and share new photos with everyone or some specific circles. To see photos of your friends which they have shared you need to add them to your circle.

What is ChromeBook ??

Ankur Kumar

Google has unveiled the Chromebook - a laptop that runs on Chrome OS. The Chrome OS is a cloud based operating system which means that all your data (or most of it) will be stored on a remote server rather than on the local hard drive. Another way of saying it is you can literally rip apart and destroy your Chromebook (assuming you have deep pockets) and still get a good night's sleep because your data is safely backed up somewhere on the net.

The following are some of the advantages of Chromebook as touted by Google.

  •  Boots in 8 seconds flat.
  • Full support for Adobe Flash and the latest web standards.
  • A rich collection of web apps catering to every ones need.
  • Share your Chromebook with friends and family without giving them access to your email and personal data.
  • Automatic OS updates provided seamlessly over the net.
  • Secure out of the box - Providing multiple layers of protection, including sandboxing, data encryption, and verified boot.
  • 3G and WiFi support.
Google has roped in Samsung and Acer to market the first set of Chromebooks.

If the price is right (free), this could be an exciting proposition for any one. In fact, Google says it will offer Chromebooks to the student community for a monthly fee of $20 per student and for the business community for a monthly price of $28 per user (Source), which is exciting if this price also includes a data plan.

For the rest of us, the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook is set to cost US$429, while the Acer Chromebook would cost US$349 for the Wi-Fi version. The 3G version would be slightly dearer.

10 Reasons why Facebook is better than Twitter

Ankur Kumar

People have become so addicted to Facebook that one window is always open where they are online through this social network. Around 600 million use Facebook whereas Twitter has around 200 million users. In that sense, Facebook is more widely connected and international than Twitter. Facebook is for close family and friends, whereas Twitter is to follow those people whom you want to be friends with or share some interests alike. Both Facebook and Twitter have their own fan following, each is competitive for the services they provide. Both are the one of the largest social networking sites and each day they are evolving with addition of newer and better features than ever before. This generates more users and hence more involvement on their platforms. But here are 10 reasons why Facebook is better than Twitter:

1. Better Expression

Profiles on Facebook are more elaborate and exclusive. You can get to know them better through reading their pages, whereas Twitter lacks that connectivity of people. The tweets are anything about anything, but on Facebook people tend to right more thought-provoking and discussion driven statuses which then leads to more excitement and involvement of people on the platform. One can clearly see and tell who are friends with whom on Twitter as there is elaborative categorizing on Facebook, whereas on Twitter one is not sure of how much a follower is closer to the person he or she is following.

2. Interest Oriented

Another better thing about Facebook is that it constantly suggests people whom one might know to connect with them on the site. Whereas there is only a conventional way of finding friends out on Twitter through various email services that one might be using. Through those email services one can see who is part of the website and can request connection. But on Facebook one knows who are friends with whom and in that way can find like-minded people easily forming groups and supporting causes that one believes in. This is how Facebook is more interest oriented.

3. News Feed is Better

Facebook is really good at suggesting news and making you reach out to the details of an event or happening that you might be eager to know exclusively about, whereas Twitter will only break the news for you. It works more like a breaking news tickler and a channel for headlines only. To get to know the depth of a story and to cover it better, Facebook is a better option certainly with enthusiastic debates and discussions on every day events that affects our lives.

4. Personal Connection

On Facebook, people tend to present themselves virtually, as if it is their virtual lives and their virtual existence. Whereas on Twitter, people just tweet whatever that they are thinking momentarily and might even change their mind on that. So in this particular sense, whatever that is being said or much rather written on Twitter does not necessarily stand for longer. It changes with the passage of time and is not a status so as to say.

5. Instant Connectivity

On Facebook one can have better connectivity with their contacts than on Twitter as there are many means to communicate, like writing on their profile walls, sending messages or simply writing a status and indicating them. Whereas on Twitter, the connection is only through tweets and messages, and one cannot have more in depth discussion or thought exchange in such a limited platform.

6. Different Environments

Facebook is where you can express yourself and show who you are, whereas on Twitter the window to self-depiction is very narrow. Both of these sites have basic differences in what their purposes are and the means through which they achieve them. Their environments are different and their uses have thus been deemed to be different when it comes to social networking. To each his own, therefore, for some people Facebook might coincide with their purpose and method of usage better than for someone who prefers Twitter for their own interests. It is all about what suits ones needs better than the other and one should choose that option.

7. Everything At One Place

On Facebook one can find everything at one junction only and one does not has to roam around to get all that one needs to keep up with. There are photos, videos, links and status updates, and all that in one place. Around more than a billion photos have been shared on Facebook by 2010. Whereas on Twitter one has to use couple of other services to get see whatever one wishes to through different formats.

8. Branding Opportunity

One of the best features that Facebook has is that of personal profile that one could create along with a page or group for any business or any other purpose. Facebook pages work almost like mini-websites for the brand promotion and information. Whereas on Twitter there is no such privilege. One has to just follow the profile or account or more specifically their channels, but there is no such thing as pages or groups on Twitter, which then again leads to its uses being limited only.

9. Chatting With Friends

On Facebook one can easily chat with friends and send instant messages. There is a threaded type discussion on Facebook which you could follow as it informs you instantly whenever someone has posted a new comment on your status or your photo or any other link that you have shared. This is the biggest feature of connectivity that Twitter lacks. As it is just about writing limited 140 characters tweets with no messaging to friends and no chatting with them online.

10. Supports Games and Apps

The interesting thing about Facebook is that it has games to play and have fun, where your friends could also join in as competitors, which doubles the excitement. According to a statistics, about 20 million people play games on Facebook daily. Besides this, it supports thousands of apps to enjoy and kill boredom. Whereas on Twitter there is no such exciting activity going on, which then makes it a bit dull.

Why Google can never beat Microsoft !!

Ankur Kumar

Google seems to be in some kind of existentialist dilemma. It desperately wants to dethrone Microsoft, and yet majority of its service like the search engine,Gmail and Google Docs are mostly accessed through IE browser, running on a Windows powered system.
The only way Google can change its equation against Microsoft,is by coming up with its own OS.
But that is easier said than done.It was in 1983 that the first Windows operating system was introduced and since then Microsoft has dominated the world of computing. The idea that more than 90% of PCs run on Windows sounds to some ears like an archetypal cliche`,which might remain true forever.
Google is really good at what it does, but is it capable of coming up with an OS comparable to Windows 7?
Rumors about Google's plan for a new Operating system had been around for quite sometime, and in the middle of 2009,the company accepted that it was aiming to create an open source, lightweight operating system.
According to Google, its Operating system is a natural extension of its Google Chrome browser, and it has been named Google Chrome Operating System.

Some analysts have been predicting that net books powered by Google's OS might become available towards the end of 2010.
Google has announced,"Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips and we are working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of net books to market next year".The words to be noted in the Google's blog-post are,"users don't have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates." Is Chrome Os going to be a proverbial magic carpet that will transport the users to a paradise, which is completely cleansed of the evil programmers??

Google Docs is a seminal achievement, and yet Microsoft Office continues to be the choice of majority of the users. In India more than 90 percent of computers are run pirated versions of Microsoft Office, even though the original version of Google Docs is available for free online.
The only way the Chrome OS can make headway is by offering users a better desktop computing experience than Windows 7 does.

So,if any company dreams that net books powered with its OS will fly off the shelf just because they are cheap, then they are probably living in a fool's paradise.
In any case,it is not going to be that easy to wean people away from desktop centric systems in which Microsoft continues to be in dominant position.

Windows 8 Screenshots Leaked !!

Ankur Kumar

The latest builds of Windows 8 in the hands of developers has resulted in more leaked screenshots, this time showing off the new Advanced Task Manager of the OS. New and improved, the we have two different screenshots displaying two different types of Task Manager. Some believe one is the touch edition, and the other is the standard.
Microsoft is obviously still experimenting with different types of interface for the app, and any of the below versions, a combination of them, or something absolutely new, might be what actually releases with the full version of Windows 8 in 2012.
The first screenshot is the dashboard of the Advanced Task Manager, showing basic CPU, disk load, memory, and network information graphically. The second screenshot is another version of the Task Manager, seemingly touch-friendly, showing a list of programs, users, and start up items. Check them out below:

Customize your Facebook Profile Page

Ankur Kumar

The new layout of your Facebook profile page can accommodate six images thus giving you room to be a little bit more creative with the design.

For instance, some people “slice” a large photograph into pieces and tag them on Facebook such that one slice appears as their main profile picture while the other pieces show up in the thumbnail region.
If you would like to have something similar for your own Facebook profile page, just get a 700px (W) x 500 px (H) picture of yourself and slice it in Photoshop /GIMP as per dimensions marked in the next image.

Upload all these image slices to your Facebook photo album and then tag them in the following sequence (the order is very important).
First set the largest image (200x500) to be your main profile picture. Then choose the 100x68 thumbnail from the image gallery that will appear in the extreme right on your profile page and tag it with your name. Then tag the immediate left image and so on such that the left-most thumbnail get tagged in the end.

Check if Someone Else is Using Your Facebook Account?

Ankur Kumar

Notice some suspicious activity on your wall? Well there some simple security settings built into Facebook – some of these settings are new while others have been around for some time – that should help you quickly detect if any other person is secretly logging into and using your Facebook account.

Go to Facebook.com -> Account -> Account Settings -> Account Security. Here you’ll see a list of all computers and mobile devices that have logged into your Facebook account and when. You can also see the approximate geographic location of the device, based on the IP address, that was used to access your Facebook account.
If you come across an unknown device / location in the list, say you are Mac user and the device listed is IE on Windows, just click the corresponding “end activity” link and it should immediately log you out from that machine.
For extra safety, you may also choose to receive email and SMS alerts if someone else tries to log into your Facebook account from a previously unknown computer or mobile phone. (I wish Google could bring such a feature to Gmail as well).

Use goo.gl to Know if your Email has been Read

Ankur Kumar

How do you know if your email message has been read by the recipient(s)?
One option is that you embed a tracking image in your outgoing email messages. If that image downloads on to the recipient's computer, it is a confirmation that your email has been opened and read. Obviously, this technique will only work if the recipient has enabled automatic image downloads and that he or she is reading your email in HTML and not plain text.
There’s another option as well. If your outgoing email messages include one or more hyperlinks, you may even consider taking the help of a URL shortening service like goo.gl for email tracking.

The idea is pretty simple. Before including an hyperlink in your email, shorten it with goo.gl first. Now if the recipient opens your email and clicks on the link, his activity will be captured which you can see by simply adding a + sign to the Google short URL.
For instance, if the short URL of your link is goo.gl/abc, you can see the click stats for that short URL on goo.gl/abc+ or goo.gl/info/abc. Hover over the click points in the graph and you’ll even get to know the time when the person clicked your link in the email.
This of course is based on the assumption that your email messages have one or more hyperlinks and that the recipients are keen to click on them for you to track their activity.

How to Enable Windows 7 GodMode

Ankur Kumar

Here’s a neat Windows 7 trick that’s been doing the rounds on the Internet. It enables “GodMode,” a term devised by the Microsoft development team, which provides a single place to access all Windows settings without needing to browse options and folders in the Control Panel.
To use it:
  1. Create a new folder.
  2. Rename the folder toGodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
(note that you can change the “GodMode” text, but the following period and code number are essential).
The folder icon will change — double click it to show the GodMode window

The window shows nearly 50 sections with quick links to configuration options. Strictly speaking, it’s not a God Mode since all the options are available elsewhere. It’s more akin to an “all tasks” list — but you may find it easier than stumbling through Windows numerous screens and panels.

Big Red Warning!

The trick appears to work on both the 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7. Vista 32-bit and Windows Server 2008 32-bit should also work. However, it is known to crash 64-bit versions of Vista — and you may need to boot in safe mode or to the command line to delete the folder.

Write the Indian Rupee Symbol using Common Windows Fonts

Ankur Kumar

The India Rupee symbol is now part of the official Unicode standard but for you to type that new currency sign into your favorite word processor or spreadsheet using a regular keyboard, your existing fonts must be updated to the new standard as well.
There are some font families – like DejaVu fonts - that have been updated to the new Unicode standard and thus include support for the new currency symbol but the problem is that these fonts have limited adoption.
Well the good news is that Microsoft has recently updated all the common fonts the ship with Windows to include support for the new Indian Rupee symbol. That means you can open a document inside Microsoft Word (or notepad), select a popular font family like Arial or Times New Roman, and type the Rupee sign directly.
To get started, you first need to update your existing Windows fonts by installing the kb2496898 hotfix available for both Windows Vista and Windows 7. Once installed, this will update the Arial.ttf, Times.ttf, Tahoma.ttf and some of the other font files on your computer with the latest version.

How to Type the Indian Rupee Symbol using Arial
Launch Microsoft Word, change the document font to Arial or Tahoma, and type 20B9 followed by Alt-x. If the 20b9 string is converted into a Rupee symbol, as in the screenshot above, the update has been successfully applied.

The Microsoft fonts update is available as a free download to anyone who is running a genuine copy of Windows 7 or Vista. However, if you add the Rupee symbol to your document and share it with another colleague who doesn’t have the latest Windows fonts, they are likely to see some junk characters in place of the Rupee sign.
A simple solution to this problem is that you create a PDF file of your Word document with font embedding enabled and that should preserve the character even if the font is missing.

Half A Billion Blog Posts Later, Google To Give Blogger A Revamp

Ankur Kumar

Google’s blogging service Blogger has been used for over half a billion blog posts (with over half a trillion words in total) to date, writes product manager Chang Kim on the Blogger Buzz blog.
Those blog posts have been read by 400 million readers across the globe, Kim adds. And according to the video below, 75 percent of traffic comes from outside the United States (the service is available in 50 languages).
Now the product is getting an overhaul, the biggest change being a more modern user interface for both the editor and the dashboard (fi-na-lly), built with Google Web Toolkit.
Google says it will be showcasing the new design of the Blogger back-end at SXSW (our coverage of the event), as well as a new content discovery feature that lets users find new content to read based on the topics of the blog they’re visiting.
The new UI is shown extensively in the video below as well, in case you’re not in Austin.
Of note: Google says it will unveil more fresh Blogger features this year – they posit that these are only the ones they’re “allowed to talk about” at this point.
Let’s call a spade a spade: Blogger has been around for a long time, but has unequivocally been losing mindshare to the likes of Tumblr, WordPress, Posterous and even services like Facebook and Twitter for content creation purposes in the past few years.
Its audience is still enormous, though, so it’s nice to see Google hasn’t forgotten its many users around the globe.
We’re looking forward to seeing how the service evolves in the course of this year.

New Twitter Stats: 140M Tweets Sent Per Day, 460K Accounts Created Per Day

Ankur Kumar

Twitter is celebrating its fifth birthday and to commemorate the occasion, is revealing a number of stats showing its growth over the past five years.
It took 3 years, 2 months and 1 day from the first Tweet to get to the billionth Tweet. In a given week, users send a billion Tweets. Users are now sending 140 million Tweets, on average, per day, up from 50 million Tweets sent per day, a year ago. The all-time high in terms of Tweets sent per day was 177 million sent on March 11, 2011.
In terms of Tweets per second, the all time high was 6,939 Tweets per second after midnight in Japan on New Year’s Day. This compares to the previous record of 456 Tweets per second when Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009.
Twitter says that 572,000 accounts were created on March 12, 2011, with 460,000 new accounts per day over the last month on average. Mobile users are up 182 percent over the past year. And Twitter currently has 400 employees, up from 8 in January 2008.

Google Switches to Generic 404 Pages

Ankur Kumar

Google previously was serving pretty useful 404 errors or pages that are displayed when someone types an incorrect URL in the address bar or when the requested page has been removed from Google’s servers.

For instance, in the previous implementation, if someone requested a non-existent page like google.com/email – it will show them links to related sites, like Gmail, instead of serving a dead-end 404 error.

That has however changed recently and Google now serves generic 404 errors that point nowhere. The new design doesn’t even have a search box. Beautiful but less-useful.

How to Trace your Laptop

Ankur Kumar

To allow law enforcement agencies access a novel method of tracking and recovering lost laptops, leading anti-virus solution provider Quick Heal has launched a service.

All that a laptop owner has to do is register with 'Quick Heal' on its website for the service through Mac-id and it keeps continuous track of where the laptop is.

If the laptop is stolen the tracker service traces it on the basis of Mac-id and IP addresses. This information can then be used by the police to track the laptop down and retrieve it, said the company press release.

The method is aimed at helping police by providing them an interface with the website, said the company managing director and CEO Kailash Katkar.

"This technology from Quick Heal will provide a tool to the society at large and to the police, thus reducing their burden," he said.

Launched as part of corporate social responsibility, the service is free of charge and can be availed by anybody, whether a 'Quick Heal' user or not, he said.

The service, already launched in Indore and Jaipur, would soon be started in other cities. Besides, the company also aims to create a database of stolen laptops for the help of users and potential buyers.

Chrome Extension Fixes Twitter’s Grammar, Tells Us “Whom” We Should Follow

Ankur Kumar

All is right with the world, as genius (and Googler!) Thomas Steiner has made this beautiful Chrome extension that corrects Twitter’s subject/object discrepancy on its “Who to Follow” feature. Grammar snobs (I KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU COMMENT), rejoice!
In case anyone’s still confused about ”Who” vs. “Whom” usage, here’s a quick tip to differentiate courtesy of Shit You Should Know:
“To determine proper usage of who/whom, separate the who/whom clause and pose it as a question.  If that question can be answered with “he”, use “who”; if it can be answered with “him”, use ‘whom’.”
You can change your entire life by downloading the extension here.

Illustrator & Photoshop CS5 Review

Ankur Kumar

Did you know that Adobe Photoshop is 20 years old and Illustrator has been around over 24 years? I’ve been using Photoshop since version 5 and Illustrator since version 8. It is amazing to see how they are progressively improving and adding more features. Now with vector features and 3D tools, Photoshop is no longer just an image editing tool. The same goes with Illustrator, Bristle Brushes were added to simulate bitmap drawing. I’ve been using CS5 for several months so in this post, I’m going to share my thoughts on CS5.

The World’s Youngest Self-Made Billionaires!

Ankur Kumar

Billionaires are getting younger! These young billionaires stand out amongst hundreds of billionaires in their age group. They are different from those that inherited their billions, because they started their own businesses and built them from ground up to reach the peak.

Marc Zuckerberg – United States, Age: 23

Facebook has attracted more users than any other site can boast of. The founder is a young boy born on May 14, 1984 and named Mark Elliot Zuckerberg. This sky and reserved kid has an unparalleled brilliance. According to Forbes magazine, Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire in the world for 2008.

He was born in a Jewish family and his father is a dentist. From his early years, he loved hacking into computers and wrote his own programs. He studied at Harvard, and the idea that brought him fame and money, a social networking site, was born in his dorm at Harvard, and the rest is history. His idea took fruition as Facebook, gaining unprecedented fame. He and his friend Andrew McCollum along with two other roommates, Dustin Moskovits and Chris Hughes started Facebook. Mark is the CEO of Facebook and his net worth is said to be $1.5 billion.

Zuckerberg is the person responsible for the overall direction and product strategy for Facebook. He currently leads the design of Facebook’s service and development of its infrastructure and core technology.

He studied computer science at Harvard University and while he was there, he created a website called Facemash, that compared students’ dorm pictures kept side-by-side, to see which one is better looking (hot or not.) It was about a few months later that he launched Facebook. He also won the Crunchie Award in 2007 for the “Best Startup CEO.”

Xiaofeng Peng – China. Age: 34

Xiaofeng Peng is a self-made billionaire with an estimated worth of $1.5 billion. Solar energy has been his ladder to success and wealth. When Peng was pondering the next move of his career, he realized that renewable energy is the future. Initially, he started out with a trading company in 2005, and it grew immensely to become one of the fastest growing suppliers of Chinese-made solar wafers in the world. These solar wafers are used in solar panels. His company, LDK Solar has also been listed on NASDAQ since 2007.

He graduated from Jiangxi Foreign Trade School in 1993 and went on to earn a diploma in international business from Beijing University Guanghua School of Management as well as an MBA degree in 2002. Prior to founding this company, he also founded Suzhou Liouxin, which is a leading manufacturer of personal protective equipment in Asia.

Xiaofeng Peng is also fluent in Japanese and traveled America and Europe extensively. He is a man with a big vision and has built a company of more than 12,000 people, which continues to grow. As part of his next
phase of expansion plans, LDK Solar has recently given a $220 million contract to Applied Materials Inc., for providing precision wafering systems.

Peng states that he aims at making his company the largest and the most economic silicon wafer supplier in the world and he intends to do that both in terms of market share and sales volume.

John Arnold – United States. Age: 34

John Arnold was a go-getter from a young age. He is on the list of current self-made billionaires and his net work is estimated to be $2.5 bil.

His father was a lawyer and mom was an accountant. He graduated from Vanderbilt University and after his studies, went on to work for Enron.

He was 27 when he used Internet-based trading network to earn $750 million for Enron in 2001, when he was an oil trader for the company. He was rewarded $8 million in bonus. A year later, when Enron collapsed, he went into business himself and founded the hedge fund Centaurus Energy Advisors, LLC, based in Houston, Texas. For this, he is said to have used his $8 million bonus and other funds from selling his Enron stock just before its collapse.

Sameer Gehlaut, India. Age: 34

Sameer Gehlaut whose net worth is calculated at 1.2 bil, is the youngest and the 45th richest in India, and one of the youngest billionaires in the world. He established Indiabulls in 2000. His background constituted of a computer engineering degree and a masters degree from Stanford University. Before completing this degree, he launched Google in 1998, along with his Russian born classmate, Sergey Brin, whose worth is said to be $18.5 billion. Is Facebook Shutting Down

Ankur Kumar

No this is an Internet Rumor.
Facebook just secured $500 million in new financing and is on pace for a public offering this year. While I can not confirm any true source for who may have started the rumor I was able to find the following quote on xfunmaza.com

“Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”

“After March 15th the whole website shuts down,” said Avrat Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook. “So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.”

Facebook has become a titan on the internet. While not the money generating giant that Google has become, it does touch more peoples lives than any other single website [based on average time spent.] Thus personal production within the work space has been affected by Facebook and the apps that are attached to it. For example it is reported that there are 18 million people on Farmville and the average person spends 17 minutes per day playing. Hmm personal time or company time?

Again this is just a rumor.
Facebook Shutting Down: Hoax of Grandeur & Moronic Proportions
Sometimes I get a kick out of the odd hoaxes floating around the net. And, at times, I shake my head and think to myself: How unbelievably stupid can one be.

Tonight, while looking at trending topics on social channels, I noticed people talking about Facebook shutting down. Some websites are going as far as quoting Mark Zuckerberg, though I truly believe the quotes are fabrications. Actually, I’m positive.

Ladies and gentleman, Facebook was recently crowned the most visited website in 2010, and was valued at $50-billion by Goldman Sachs. Do you really think it’s shutting down? Cummon’ now.

Alright, no more ranting and back to work.

Facebook Will End On March 15

PALO ALTO, CA –Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will be shut down in March. Managing the site has become too stressful.

“Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”

Zuckerberg went on to explain that starting March 15th, users will no longer be able to access their Facebook accounts.

“After March 15th the whole website shuts down,” said Avrat Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook. “So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.”

Zuckerberg said that the decision to shut down Facebook was difficult, but that he does not think people will be upset.

“I personally don’t think it’s a big deal,” he said in a private phone interview. “And to be honest, I think it’s for the better. Without Facebook, people will have to go outside and make real friends. That’s always a good thing.”

Some Facebook users were furious upon hearing the shocking news.

“What am I going to do without Facebook?” said Denise Bradshaw, a high school student from Indiana. “My life revolves around it. I’m on Facebook at least 10 hours a day. Now what am I going to do with all that free time?”

However, parents across the country have been experiencing a long anticipated sense of relief.

“I’m glad the Facebook nightmare is over,” said Jon Guttari, a single parent from Detroit. “Now my teenager’s face won’t be glued to a computer screen all day. Maybe I can even have a conversation with her.”

Those in the financial circuit are criticizing Zuckerberg for walking away from a multibillion dollar franchise. Facebook is currently ranked as one of the wealthiest businesses in the world, with economists estimating its value at around 7.9 billion.

But Zuckerberg remains unruffled by these accusations. He says he will stand by his decision to give Facebook the axe.

“I don’t care about the money,” said Zuckerberg. “I just want my old life back.”

The Facebook Corporation suggests that users remove all of their personal information from the website before March 15th. After that date, all photos, notes, links, and videos will be permanently erased.
